Clémentine Baert
After studying at E.R.A.C., Clémentine Baert performed under the direction of renowned figures such as Pascal Rambert, Georges Lavaudant, Bernard Sobel, Christophe Fiat, Oriza Hirata, Silvia Costa, Thomas Quillardet, and Jonathan Capdevielle. Her regular collaborations with Robert Wilson’s projects in New York from 1998 to 2002 shaped her as a cosmopolitan and unique artist. It was within Pascal Rambert’s company, with whom she has developed a long-standing artistic partnership, that she began exploring her own writing.
In cinema, she has worked as an actress with directors including Jean-Charles Fitoussi, Emmanuel Mouret, Sigried Alnoy, Olivier Dahan, Philippe Lioret, Wim Wenders, Cédric Anger, Guillaume Canet, Sébastien Betbeder, Mathieu Delaporte, and Alexandre De La Patellière.
Since 2001, she has created multidisciplinary performances centered around the theme of identity. In 2015, she premiered Alors, est-ce que c’est là ?, presented notably at T2G Centre Dramatique National de Gennevilliers and in Cairo, Egypt. In 2016, she debuted Un matin, a children’s theater production at Théâtre de Vanves, which later toured across France and was revived at T2G.
In 2018, at the request of Odéon Théâtre de l’Europe, she directed Je nous promets with young performers as part of the “Adolescences et Territoire(s)” initiative. Following this, she created her first short film, commissioned by Le BAL, featuring the young actors she had worked with during the play’s production.
In 2024, she premiered Dans la ville quelque part at Théâtre Liberté, a musical performance about memory set to electronic music. She recorded the eponymous album, set to be released in 2025, in collaboration with Aurélie Mestres. She is currently working with Les Théâtres in Marseille on a project to create a traveling storytelling ball about desire and youth, scheduled to debut in spring 2025.
She is presently writing her next production, Rien que pour nous, and her feature film, Mes filantes. Additionally, she continues her research and writing with audiences in exile through collaborations with museums and theaters planned for 2025.
