In January 2026, Les Indépendances began a collaboration with the Centre chorégraphique national d’Orléans and Collectif ÈS for the development and touring of their artistic creations.

“We are Sidonie Duret, Jeremy Martinez, and Émilie Szikora, gathered under the name Collectif ÈS. We develop an artistic and cultural project rooted precisely in this collective challenge – the core of our artistic commitment, a compass for thinking, and fertile ground for creation.

ÈS is a preposition meaning ‘in matters of’.

It is always followed by a plural form, and therefore by multiplicity – the very multiplicity we seek within the idea of the collective. We approach creation as a shared process, producing works born from the we. We embrace the idea that every artistic object or creative act is co-signed by the three of us.

Creating live performance means proposing living works, experienced by living beings. We pursue this shared experience through physical intensity that calls our bodies into engagement; through generosity of movement and action, while never losing direct address and connection with audiences. We embrace an intuitive radicality that cultivates joy, bringing together the history of contemporary dance with each of our personal stories.

Our work moves across popular references – always with a sense of self-irony – from aerobics to Whitney Houston, from John Travolta to Maurice Béjart, from La Marseillaise to punk culture, from the European utopia to the Lambada.

Since 2011, we have co-created works continuously nourished by our need for collective practice and by the social role it can play. Creating is an opportunity to gather, to work together, and to question our relationship with others.

In January 2025, we took over the direction of the Centre chorégraphique national d’Orléans, where we are developing a project reflecting our convictions: joyful, physical, popular, and civic. We imagine a utopian place where dances are made and shared, a place to connect, to dance, and to celebrate. As a large-scale extension of our artistic vision, the CCNO becomes a living space to experiment with these precious notions of otherness, collective momentum, and togetherness.

A challenge that is as poetic as it is political — one we hope to share with as many people as possible.”
