Piece for 8 dancers and 2 drummers

Outdoor version available

Eight dancers, two drummers. Ten men, then, to lay down the shackles of “masculinity.” Nearly fifteen years ago, d’après une histoire vraie paved the way for an irresistible fluidity of polarities, breaking down antagonisms one by one through the grace, if not the ardor, of its movements. Today, it invites its performers to redeploy a choreography in which the divisions between tradition and modernity are delicately unraveled. A pivotal piece, if ever there was one, it brings the memory of an emotion to its incandescent point, stretching its material to the point of explosion. In the friction between telluric rhythms and undulating bodies, dance invents its own plasticity. Side by side with the music, it runs along an arc that stretches from tribal ritual to geometric form, from fiction to abstraction, from group to community. But it is still in the underground solidarity of the gestures, with each person holding on thanks to the presence of the other, that a folklore without territory can emerge. Falls are answered by constantly renewed contact, twirls by the assurance of an outstretched hand, grasped in all its fullness. Singularities are observed, come together, and detach themselves only to reunite again. How can we be together? Here, the question takes on its full significance.
