Bientôt le jour
Le Birgit Ensemble
What drives a person to change their life, to take a different path, from one moment to the next? This is one of the questions that will guide the creation of the company’s next play.
Bientôt le jour will present seven stories offering an intimate account of being torn away from a daily life once thought to be unchanging. Based on testimonies gathered in France and abroad (Austria, Italy, Spain, the United States, India and Cameroon), the play will unfold in a series of fragments in which the decisive moment of the uprising takes shape before our eyes. For each account, we will bring to life, in their original language, the people quoted and the landscape that accompanies them. As if we were bringing to life a memory of our own, we shall attempt, with modesty and sensitivity, to transpose this sensitive material onto the stage by re-contextualising it within its historical and political setting. And because these recounted stories are conveyed through a memory frayed by time, fiction will then fill in these gaps
