La vie etcetera
L'imaginarium
CREATION 2027-2028
La vie etcetera explores the notion of free time as a space for collective reinvention.
It is the story of a team that was supposed to perform a play tonight, but cannot.
Their work – and therefore the performance – is prevented by external forces: strikes, climate events, burnout, train and childcare problems, lack of time and resources to do otherwise…
In short, fate seems to be against them today – is it the times we live in, or are we just really unlucky?
But rather than cancelling without explanation, the team invites the audience to experience this “unexpected event” together.
The uncertainty becomes a space for reflection, a space of “free time” that questions what we do with our lives, our time and our lucidity.
The play we were supposed to perform will not be performed, but it will pass through us, like a ghost play.
It is Bertolt Brecht’s The Life of Galileo.
It accompanies us because it reminds us of this:
Even when everything is prevented, there remains the choice not to give up completely.
The intimate links with the need to change the world cannot be severed just like that, and so they open up a space-time in which we can still make choices.
In this link between the two plays – ours and Brecht’s – a free space opens up, which we can choose to inhabit together.
